A Trip to Maliau Basin : Sabah's Lost World

Year 2008 was the year we conquered Mount Kinabalu as our city activity for the year. In the year 2009, on the 13th  - 16th June, we started again our adventurous journey to the Sabah Lost World known as Maliau Basin. There were 15 participants and these expeditions were led by AP Dr D Kamarudin D Mudin, the Deputy Dean of School of Medicine and Mr Luqman Ridha Anwar, Senior Assistant Registrar.

The journey took 4 days and 3 nights of walking through the jungle. It was indeed a very tiring activity but it was worth it. Every step, hills we passed, the sceneries were beautiful and amazing and the air was so fresh. Each night we slept on an open camp accompanied by the sound of music made by the creatures of jungle. Truthfully, it makes it harder to sleep. The flora and fauna were all over the place. Luckily we had tour guides with us to show and point out some of the fauna available on our left and right side example; green snakes on top of the tree...

We were mesmerized with the beautiful waterfall, the Maliau Waterfall but sadly we were advised not to swim. Maliau Waterall was a small version of Niagara waterfall. It was our final destination.
